So much goes on in the world of hairstyling. One day a straightener brand is making strides, and the next day another brand takes over. 07 Best NuMe Straightener Reviews
The aim is to help you figure out what each flat iron can bring to the table. Once you’ve got an understanding of the delicacies presented, feel free to snag one right up.
1. NuMe Megastar Hair Straightener
When I heard the name of NuMe straighteners going around, I wanted to check one out to see whether the brand is worth the salt. Luckily, the first straightener I got from this manufacturer is the NuMe Megastar; since then, it has secured a permanent spot on my wardrobe. In my NuMe Megastar review, I’ll share my two cents on this straightener.
What caught my eye right off the bat is the tourmaline tech. Not all straighteners have this, and even if they do, it’s not up to the mark. So, this straightener gets the tourmaline tech just right.
Damaged hair consists of positive ions. Tourmaline is a substance full of negative ions that end the reign of positive ions, creates balance and gives you slick and shiny hair.
Also, the plates aren’t entirely flat. The edges are beveled, which means you get the best of both worlds- the straight look and the curls. Managing long hair can be tricky. However, the long swivel cord of this straightener makes it pretty easy.
There’s more. I loved the digital display. Once I found a comfortable temperature, I could get back to it without fumbling through a dial-based adjust system.
The auto turn-off feature is nifty as well. Even if I forget to check on the straightener, it will go to sleep automatically after a while. The far infrared technology deserves applause as well. It heats the hair from within. So, there’s no risk of the cuticles getting burned.
Overall, the NuMe straightener is one of my favorites. This straightener is a cut above the rest when it comes to getting frizz-free, smooth, and gorgeous hair. I would say this flat iron could go toe to toe with top-tier brands like BaByLiss.
- Tourmaline technology with powerful negative ions.
- Very low heat-up time.
- Beveled edges for both curls and straights.
- Heats hair from within.
- Can create a real dent in your wallet.
- Beginners can have a hard time with the 1-inch plates.
2. NuMe Fashionista Tourmaline Ceramic
After using the NuMe Megastar, I thought I would drop my exploration right there and call it a day. Still, I can’t just call a brand incredible based on just one product. So, I decided to try out the NuMe Fashionista.
Similar to the NuMe Megastar, it has tourmaline gems sprinkled upon ceramic plates. I’ve already sung praises of the tourmaline’s negative ions and how it can store moisture. So, in short- yay for tourmaline ceramic.
I’ve had a lot of trouble with straighteners that heat the cuticle directly. While it can give you the straight hair you want, it takes a heavy toll on your hair. However, the far-infrared tech adopted by NuMe heats hair from within. So, you get the look minus the damage.
Also, this straightener comes with a pair of shampoo, conditioner, and a comb to boot. Not that it matters too much in the long run, it’s still nice. The hair comb is worthy of praise. I got a lot of use out of all these free accessories.
Also, the beveled edges are a gamechanger when it comes to curls. The build quality is not too shabby as well. I don’t think it will survive a monumental fall, but I’ve seen it handle a considerable amount of roughhousing.
It’s cheaper than the Megastar as well. You do sacrifice a few features for cutting corners, though. There’s no digital display and auto shut-off to hello you out. Still, for the price, it’s a definite win.
- Far infrared tech.
- Tourmaline ceramic plates.
- Lightweight and easy to maneuver.
- Comparatively inexpensive.
- No digital display.
- No auto turn-off feature.
3. NuMe Silhouette Hair Straightener
I bumped into Silhouette while I was testing out different NuMe straighteners. I have to say; it is a bit expensive but not as much as Megastar. Nevertheless, I found out that it suits not only my hair but also my friend’s, who apparently has very curly coarse hair. That’s why I’ve included this NuMe Silhouette straightener review to help you understand whether this little flat iron can actually meet your demands.
So, with that, I understood that the NuMe Silhouette hair straightener works with almost all hair types. It uses stone ceramic as its primary material and has long plates. Therefore, I was able to straighten a chunk of my hair at one go.
Additionally, it features Negative Ion Conditioning Technology, which can smoothen the hair while providing a shiny finish. The far-infrared heat, on the other hand, helps your hair to retain moisture and allows you to lock into the hairstyle you desire.
Apart from that, the straightener offers floating plates; so, when I was working with my hair, I saw no sign of breakage. It is really a blessing for people with dry hair as they tend to break more than usual.
What I found next is that I was able to straighten and curl my hair with the straightener. So, it is basically 2 in 1 straightener for both curly and straight hair.
- Versatile hair straightener.
- Prevents overall hair breakage.
- 110-240V dual voltage system.
- Long stone ceramic plates.
- It is a bit expensive.
- The maximum heat of the straightener is too excessive and may damage your hair.
4. NuMe Power Couple
I continued with my journey to find the best NuMe hair straightener. Using the NuMe Fashionista made me realize that it’s an incredible flat iron (I’ve put out the details in my NuMe Fashionista hair straightener review). However, I needed a complete styling solution, from straight hair to curls, all wrapped up in one little box. I was almost about to give up until I stumbled upon the NuMe Power Couple.
I’d say the name of this package stands to reason. It’s indeed the Power Couple. For me, it was the one-stop solution to all my styling needs. It had basically everything a DIY hairstylist could want. The straightener for the glass hair look, the wand if you need to add some curls to the mix, a heat-resistant glove to protect your delicate skin from burns, a professional comb to add more flair to your hair, and a carrying case for convenient traveling.
So, in short, all the goodies of the NuMe Fashionista are here with added benefits of other attachments. I remember taking this entire package with me during a tour to Europe and had my hair game on even as I was traveling.
I was a bit on edge about the quality of the curling wand, though. However, I’ve used it many a time, and the wand is every bit as amazing as the Fashionista. The manufacturer decided to go with tourmaline ceramic for the curling wand as well. And it’s hard to go wrong with tourmaline ceramic.
So, the NuMe Power Couple can be the all-in-one solution most home stylists crave for. It has all the necessary tools to give you wonderful hair and ways to experiment with it, everything wrapped up in a neat little case.
- Tourmaline ceramic straightener and curling wand.
- Heat-resistant gloves and pro-tier comb.
- One-stop solution to your styling needs.
- Both flat iron and wand are lightweight and easy to use.
- A little expensive.
- The comb is not really sturdy.
5. NuMe Style Setter Flat Irons
If you are looking for an alternative for the other straighteners that I just mentioned, then the NuMe Style Setter Flat Irons can be a great choice. I had a wonderful time using it, and maybe you’ll too once you give it a shot.
First of all, the straightener features titanium plates, and you should know that the said material is optimal for leaving shining strands by enhancing negative ions. It also makes the product one of the best straighteners for thick hair textures.
Furthermore, the straightener heats up very quickly and can reach 450°F in just a few seconds. It is extremely useful when you are on the clock, or you have a date in a few hours.
Apart from that, the far-infrared heat system of the product allows heat to travel through the inside of your hair towards the cuticle. It keeps the cuticle healthy when you are styling your hair.
The product features thin plates; therefore, it works best with short hair. Additionally, the beveled plates enable you to go for more than one hairstyle. On the other hand, if you are worried about the longevity of the straightener, then don’t, because it comes with a limited warranty of 1 year.
- Negative ion technology makes your hair shiny and stylish.
- Far infrared heat system to keep your hair healthy.
- Heats up to maximum temperature in a short time.
- One-year limited warranty.
- The package doesn’t include extra styling items.
- It is not suitable for long hair.
6. NuMe’s Megastar X Professional Grade Hair Straightening Iron Black
To be honest, my wallet was very upset after I bought the NuMe’s Megastar X. When I got it from Amazon, I was wondering, would it be worth the purchase, or am I just wasting my precious money. Well, folks, it was worth it, and trust me, even if the price seems a bit high, like me, you are also going to love it.
Well, let’s look at the advantages of the product first. It has floating plates of 1.75-inches, which is flexible and adjust with almost every hair type. As the plates are quite thick, you will be able to straighten a chunk of hair at once.
Moreover, the straightener features 100% tourmaline ceramic to ensure a friction-free surface, which will also reduce overall hair breakage. Similar to the other NuMe straighteners, this one also comes with Negative Ion Technology and the Far Infrared system.
However, it comes with a game-changing feature known as Ion Booster. What it does is, it amplifies, enhances, and boosts the effect of negative ion conditioning, resulting in an even shinier finish.
The only few drawbacks I’ve witnessed so far are the price and the fact that it is not suitable for thin, coarse hair.
- Beveled plates allow straightening and curling of hair.
- Ion Boost enhances the effect of negative ion conditioning.
- Wide friction-free surface.
- Reduces overall hair breakage.
- It is quite expensive.
- You shouldn’t be using it if you have thin, coarse hair.
7. NuMe Fashionista Hair Straightener Pink
Although I have chosen the NuMe Fashionista hair straightener as the last one on my list, it doesn’t mean that it has major defects or functions poorly. It still sits on the throne of the best NuMe flat irons; therefore, you should have a glimpse before judging the quality of it.
The product features 100% tourmaline ceramic plates, which ensure even heat distribution, reduce frizz, improve the texture of hair, and amplify the shining effect. I tried out the hair straightener myself, and some of my friends also borrowed it from time to time, and it did a great job adjusting with our different types of hair.
It comes with negative ion conditioning, which further boosts the shine of your hair. The far-infrared heat made sure that my cuticle remained healthy while I was trying out different styles.
On the other hand, I only had to wait for only a few seconds before the straightener reached its maximum temperature, which was around 450 °F. I was able to use it while traveling to different cities, and the best part was, I received a limited warranty of one year from the manufacturer.
- Suitable for every type of hair.
- It has a maximum temperature of 450 °F.
- Quick Heating.
- The straightener locks in moisture for healthier and hydrated strands.
- It has very thin plates.
- The straight effect won’t last for more than one day on thick, coarse hair.
Buying Guide
You know- not all NuMe hair straighteners are cut from the same cloth. While some lived up to the high standards I set, some just left a bad taste in my mouth. That’s why, in this NuMe straightener reviews, I’ll shed the spotlight on features I believe every quality NuMe straightener ought to have.
Temperature Range for Thin and Thick Hair
Having a wide temperature range gives you the flexibility to use the straightener on both thin and thick hair. While most hair straighteners get the high temperature just right, they fumble when it comes to low temperature.
So, what happens is that the lowest you get is either 225 or 250. Now, that’s no big deal for people who have thick and coarse hair. In fact, that’s exactly what they want.
So, does it mean people with thin hair should feel left out? Not by a long shot. A lot of straighteners have a starting temperature of 175F. So, thin hair won’t stop you from having that slick and straight hair. Also, if you’re into rosin extraction, straighteners with a low starting temp are the best option.
Professional stylists should keep this consideration on top of their list. It lets you use the hair straightener on many different hair types without having to change it for every other client that comes in.
Ceramic or Titanium Plates
Although it’s pretty basic knowledge, and most of you are probably aware of it, I’m still going to go through it quickly. Whether you should get a ceramic NuMe straightener or a titanium one is not something you should look past.
So, as you know, both plate types have their distinct perks and pitfalls. While the ceramic heats up slower but houses the infrared tech, the titanium plates heat up faster, but there’s no inside-out heating.
Now, the choice ultimately comes down to whether you love your hair or your money. If you belong to the first group, I’d say go for ceramic plates. They take a while to catch heat, but these plates disperse the heat without damaging the cuticles.
However, the price tag that accompanies ceramic plates can seem intimidating. So, people who are in the money group should go for titanium plates. These plates are relatively inexpensive and heat up faster. However, the heat directly pours into the cuticles, damaging your hair. So, if you don’t have coarse and thick hair to sacrifice, I wouldn’t recommend titanium plates.
Isn’t there a middle ground where I get value for my money while keeping my hair safe? Yes- there is.
Look for tourmaline enhancements. Tourmaline is a gem, which, sprinkled upon either ceramic or titanium, can reduce heat damage to a certain extent with its power of negative ions.
So, I know it seems a bit complicated, but it’s actually all pretty straightforward. Here, let me paint this out for you-
- No money problem- go for ceramic plates.
- Tight budget- go for titanium plates.
- The middle ground- tourmaline enhancements.
Be on the Hunt for Warranty
I know I’m stating the obvious again, but you won’t believe how many people forget this consideration. Buying any expensive product without ensuring a warranty is like jumping off a plane without taking the parachute.
So, if you don’t want your lovely straightener to die in your hands just a couple of months after purchase, check for a warranty.
Now, most manufacturers provide a limited warranty. Don’t get discouraged by the term “limited.” It still covers a lot. Limited warranty means the manufacturer will cover damages for specific parts or address certain problems.
The key takeaway here is- if you haven’t screwed up the straightener by ignoring the instruction manual, you have nothing to worry about. If the product has a manufacturing defect, you can either claim a full refund or a replacement.
So, make sure your investment is secure by keeping an eye out for a warranty.
Floating Plates and Beveled Edges
Both these considerations are secondary but still important if you’re a DIY stylist. Straightening somebody else’s hair is easy. It’s a different story when you have to work on yourself.
That’s where floating plates come into play. If you’re having a hard time taming your unruly hair, floating plates can take care of it. Floating plates, as the name implies, adjust themselves with the texture of one’s hair. So, it doesn’t matter if the hair is thick, thin, coarse, or in shambles. Quality floating plates can make it behave.
Next comes the beveled edges. I’ve already spoken highly of this feature when discussing the best NuMe straighteners. So, beveled edges can be a lifesaver for getting curls. It’s not like you can’t make curls with flat straighteners. But with the help of beveled edges, you save time and effort!
The Overall Design
A lot depends on the straightener’s design. Most of NuMe’s straighteners have an intelligent design- I must say. Still, you should tick a few boxes just to be on the safe side.
For starters, a swivel cord is a boon in disguise. I’ve seen many people ignore this feature altogether because they don’t realize what it brings to the table. When you’re making curls, a stationary cord can (almost certainly will) get in the way. A swivel cord all but eliminates this problem.
Plus, a digital display can help you get the precise temperature. And if you get accustomed to a certain setting, you can simply come back to it later.
The weight of the straightener plays a major role as well. Anything above 2lbs can be cumbersome to manage. The ideal number is 1 to 1.5lbs, so try and aim for that.
When All is Said and Done
I’ve been up on the NuMe bandwagon for quite some time, and it has been a wonderful ride. This brand knows what the users and their straighteners are a reflection of this understanding.
The purpose of this NuMe straightener reviews was to list all my favorite straighteners and to give a first-hand account of my thoughts on each. Now that I’ve reached the shore, I want to crown a champion. In my opinion, the NuMe Megastar takes the crown. It has a bunch of amazing features, and there’s no denying the sheer quality of this straightener. However, it’s a bit expensive, but trust me- it’s worth every penny.
So, I hope you’ve learned something new about NuMe straighteners along the way. And if you’re still skeptical about this brand, don’t sweat it. Just give one a shot, and you’re unlikely to regret it, cheers!
