Louise Cosgrove
Born in Australia, my parents moved to the states when I was just a toddler. I was raised in the humble coasts of Galveston, Texas. My love of styling and beautifying began when my mom got me into a local beauty pageant. The first time she got me into a pageant, I was too young to know any better. However, as I grew older, I became fascinated with pageants, beauty, and fashion.
After completing high school, I realized I don’t want to be in front of the camera. My desire was to stay behind the curtains and help other people reach the top of their game by giving them the best styling I could. This realization led me to Weatherford College, where I got a degree in Cosmetology. Since then, I never had to look back.
I set up shop back in my hometown, and my services were well-received if I say so myself. The business was booming, and everything around me was fantastic. However, I decided to call it quits (for a while) after giving birth to two beautiful children. Not that I had to- I just wanted to spend more time with my children. After my kids were old enough to go to school, I started making a comeback. While I did return to the styling world after my post-partum slumber, I never went back in full swing. Instead, I became a part-timer, providing services to a few handpicked regular clients.
Anyways, it was one of my clients who suggested that I should share my knowledge with the rest of the world. I’ll let you in on a little secret- I was NERVOUS as the new kid in school. I didn’t know whether my knowledge was even worth sharing. Despite my client’s constant pokes and prods, I didn’t start a website. However, when my husband (on a beautiful sunny day) told me that what I have is WORTH sharing, I started to come around. He told me I’ve been in this business long enough, and it’s my time to help people make the RIGHT decision.
With nerve-wreck of a heart, I started Hairstraightenerguide.com. Slowly but surely, I got the courage to publish more articles. Helping people who are struggling with their everyday styling needs felt liberating. Once I was committed to this website, I went all-in, and here I am today.

As I mentioned earlier, I tried (and will try) to cover everything related to hairstyling. I’ll give two cents on top brands like BaByliss and NuMe. Also, I have in mind the needs of the budget-hunter as well. So, budget-oriented brands such as CHI or HSI will also have a place on this website.
It’ll not just be limited to hairstyling, though. I’m going to share my experience on different ways you can use a hair straightener, for instance, making homemade rosin.
In short, the target is to cover anything and everything you can do with your hair and a hair straightener. Perhaps, I’ll think about branching out and moving on to other domains of styling and beautification (but that’s a plan for the future). If you have any question that hasn’t been covered on the website or want to suggest a topic you think I should cover, do not hesitate to get in touch with me.
